City of Los Angeles, Venice Dual Force Main Sewer
City of Los Angeles, Venice Dual Force Main Sewer
The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works is constructing a new two-mile-long, 54-inch diameter force main sewer (with nine separate tunnels) to supplement a 48-inch diameter force main sewer that was originally built in 1960. The purpose of the project is to avoid any potential failure of the sewer force main, which could potentially cause an overflow into city streets and surface waters.
Guida is providing land surveying services to support the micro-tunneling activities utilizing our Sokkia 1” Automated GYRO X II Station. Services include establishing horizontal and vertical controls at each tunnel shaft tied into the overall project controls, performing traversing and tunnel guidance utilizing the GYRO, setting internal tunnel controls at no more than 250-foot increments, and providing quality control of the tunnel alignment to ensure the project team is meeting the required tolerances.
