Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC), San Pablo Avenue Corridor Project

Through experienced and strategic teaming partnerships, Guida was asked to provide land mapping services for a project overseen by the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC).  San Pablo Avenue (State Route 123) is a jurisdictional roadway that traverses four cities in Northern Alameda County (Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley, and Albany) and three in Western Contra Costa County (El Cerrito, Richmond, and San Pablo).

San Pablo Avenue is the heart of a critical travel corridor providing north-south connections throughout the inner East Bay paralleling I-80.  With the 2-lane corridor carrying daily traffic and freeway commute overflow the field mapping planning focused on various strategies to provide safe and accurate data collection.

Aerial mapping with supplemental ground shots collected the 10’ sections of curb, sidewalk, median, and above ground utilities for design mapping.  Throughout the 7+ mile stretch of San Pablo Avenue; various interactions had been touched by recent project upgrades.  Guida’s team made sure the field crews collected “match points” and any potential or existing field issues along the stretch for possible re-design needs.

The primary control points run through various cities, overseen by Caltrans District 4.  Utilizing Caltrans North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83), California Coordinate System Zone 3 and the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) the final control files were a key design element for both teaming and agency partners. Field sketches and invert elevations of Storm Drainage information at each intersection were provided at the request of designers.

The final topographic mapping and digital terrain models were all delivered AutoCAD Civil3D 2018 format.
