Every autumn Guida Surveying, Inc. (Guida) has the privilege of sponsoring and attending Mobility 21’s annual Southern California Transportation Summit. This leading transportation conference incorporates educational sessions from top professionals in the industry with the ability to network with potential teaming partners and clients. Generally held at the magical Disneyland hotel, this year the conference went completely virtual for the first time in history in response to the global pandemic.
To address any safety concerns, Mobility 21 was able to take all the prominent features of the summit and recreate it in a virtual setting. They developed a completely custom, proprietary virtual platform for the event that allowed participants to attend broadcasts of general and breakout sessions, “walk around” a 3D virtual expo hall, and virtually network through various features including a hospitality suite where attendees could video chat with agency leaders.
As we have done in previous years, Guida had members from our corporate and business development teams in attendance as well as a distinctive booth. In previous years our booth featured fun and whimsical themes, generating dynamic conversation and creating memorable moments. This year, however, our theme focused on what we are most passionate about, our team members, and how they have gotten us to our 25-year anniversary. Additionally, in lieu of tangible giveaways, Guida chose to make a charitable donation to No Kid Hungry. An organization that strives to feed starving children and families in need who may be struggling more than ever due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Some of Guida’s team members manned our custom virtual expo booth through a chat function, as others made their way around the summit taking advantage of the business card exchange feature and attending educational sessions. Guida has nothing but praise for the hard work Mobility 21 put into taking the summit virtual and the outstanding experience they were able to offer.
